When I listen to my performance on this song a decade or two later, it’s not totally cringy.  But I do have some criticisms: I didn’t leave enough space between words to cement my flow with the beat.  I’ve said this verse over so many times since that I know where to leave space and keep the pertinent bars/words going.  The energy on the performance was good, though.  (The chorus is crazy.  At least I committed to it.  Love me or leave me alone lol. The beat always reminded me of an Indian chant so …. )

For a while people would say I was too laid-back on the track or screaming too loud.  Finding that perfect balance between being too loud or too soft, that’s called tone.  Your Flow : that’s the timing.  And the combination of tone and timing is how you seperate the best rappers from the other rappers.  It can’t be taught really.  It can only be practiced.  I was an OK rapper back then.  I just wasn’t great.  But I was a good writer.

The story actually happened at this bar on the corner of Germantown and Chelten.  The girl I was with starts running in the street after the shots got fired and she just runs right in front of the bus.  She made it. Philly.

I lay myself on the line every time I’m in jeopardy – jab you in the abdomen the pen is my weaponry

I take risks living in and out a snake pits – in places where my aces give a high roller fits

tonight I’m kinda low key this karaoke spot – chillin wit my buddy know her body kinda hot

this night like any other till one brother started rammin’ then before I could examine his gat was in his hand andevery body had to exit next it was – security trying to flex it show nuff slugs

they came a one shot two shot hummin out the door – everybody ducking down the ground is the floor

but Sis she ran first screamin’ like her water burst – that bus come any faster this verse get alot worse

Saturday night started on a Thursday right – that’s what happens when you let go that Peace Pipe
